There Are Only 3 Degrees of Separation between You and Everything You Want!

A client of mine recently shared a story with me that I want to pass along to you. It demonstrates the power of reaching out to those you know and connecting to their friends, and their friends! Follow this advice and everything you want will be that much closer to becoming a reality...

“A few months ago, I started looking for a different kind of summer job, and in the process learned an unexpected lesson about the power of reaching out.

Around Spring Break all of my friends started to apply for corporate jobs and internships. But despite my love of business, I knew none of the jobs they were applying for would be a fit for me. So I started to think about creative ways that I could find a job that incorporated some of the things I am passionate about; most importantly people and travel.

Late one night I couldn’t sleep, so I drafted a letter that was clear, simple and straight from the heart. I expressed my goal, outlined my dream summer job and then asked directly for people’s help. I sent it in an email to my closest friends and key people in my life and asked them to pass it on to anyone they knew who might be able to help – either with finding me a job or connecting me with someone else. The results were powerful.

Life seldom goes as planned and I didn’t end up getting that summer job. But what I did get were some amazing connections, including Vikki Loving – who received my letter from someone who had received my letter from someone else – and who has since become a powerful believer in my life. I also got reconnected with some old friends, one of whom hired me to create her website, and inspired me to launch my own business.

• Reach out.
• Who you know is important, but it’s often who they know and who they know that hold the real key to getting what you want.
• Be open to every connection. You never know who might hold the key (or the connection) to your future success and happiness!”
